What a high Globulin means, and common causes

The antibody-rich protein fraction is raised, which points to chronic infection, inflammation or an antibody-producing disorder.

Common causes: Chronic infection including tuberculosis and HIV, chronic liver disease, autoimmune disease, and multiple myeloma.

What a low Globulin means, and common causes

A low globulin suggests reduced antibody production or protein loss.

Common causes: Immune deficiency, nephrotic syndrome with protein loss in urine, malnutrition, and malabsorption.
