Additional Instructions

  1. Provide the first sample while on fasting to our sample collection expert.
  2. Provide the second sample after 1 hour of drinking 75 grams of oral glucose mixed in 250ml-300ml water.
  3. Provide the third sample after 2 hours of glucose solution consumption.
  4. Please note amount of glucose to be taken can be 50 gm, 75 gm or 100 gm. Please follow as per doctor's prescription.

Glucose tolerance test (GTT) Complete Instructions - 

This test is recommended for pregnant women in order to screen for gestational diabetes. This test may be usually recommended between the 24 and 28th week of pregnancy.

GTT-2 (2 vials)

  • Two specimens will be taken
  • First specimen in fasting
  • Second specimen at 2 hours post consumption of glucose solution
  • 250 - 300 ml of normal water is required to make a glucose solution

GTT-3 (3 vials)

  • Three specimens will be taken
  • First specimen in fasting
  • Second specimen at 1 hour of post-glucose consumption
  • Third specimen 2 hours of post-glucose consumption
  • 250 - 300 ml of normal water is required to make a glucose solution

Points to remember

  • Overnight fasting is required.
  • Do not eat or drink anything before or after the glucose is taken.
  • Only a sip of normal water can be taken if required.
  • No glucose is provided by the lab.

NOTE - GTT & 24-hour urine investigations are under a special package category, and cannot be booked along with normal packages, separate booking is required.
