Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide, and it is important to catch, detect and treat cancer at an early stage. However, there are standard screening tests for some common cancers, but sadly many cancers, including rare ones, do not have any tests to detect cancer in blood at early stages. MCED tests are the new step taken for those who wish to have cancer early detection to save many lives. This blood test is done to detect cancer and takes more than 50 cancers in one simple blood test.

MCED test- all about it

MCED test is a new cancer screening blood test that can detect cancer in blood by comparing and cross-checking cancer signals across 50 types of cancer through a single blood sample. It is a new blood test that helps in determining types of cancers that don't have any screening tests currently. If you think that can a blood test can detect cancer in the body, then yes, it can. MCED tests can also alert you to hard-to-detect aggressive and fatal cancers, including ovarian, pancreatic, and esophageal cancers.

What exactly is the MCED test?

Detecting cancer at an early stage can help cure it before it spreads throughout the body and can save many lives. Doctors always advise to have regular screening for many common cancer types by using many methods, and it is very difficult and challenging to get all these tests done. It is an expensive process, too, and sometimes it can turn out to be an uncomfortable one too. But now there is a single blood test that can screen for most common cancer types that too all at once. MCED is the best early cancer detection test that can reduce the cancer death rate and can help to treat cancer at an early stage. It is a blood-based test, also termed a liquid biopsy, that is designed to detect the presence of cancer for more than one cancer at a time. It is an early cancer detection process that can be treated early.

  • These tests are designed to detect many types of cancer by observing for cancer signals in the bloodstream.
  • These tests will be complementary to existing screenings.
  • These tests use genomic science along with machine learning to get early detection of all cancer types

Prevention is better than cure, and early detection is the best way to save lives. Even with the many advancements in the field of healthcare the benefits of early detection are not able to reach people to till date. If any form of cancer is detected early, it can help to save up to 90 percent lives of the patients. MCED test is the best way to determine more than one type of cancer from a single blood sample. The test not only finds out that a person has cancer but also specifies the exact organ from where cancer started. Cancer that is detected early is often easier to treat and provides better outcomes. The MCED test effectively finds a wide range of cancers at an early stage when a person does not even have any symptoms. It is advised to undergo the test as it can detect common cancer signs from more than 50 different types of cancers and also detect the location from where the signals have come.

Which cancers are detected by MCED tests?

MCED tests are best for cancer early detection as there are more than 50 types of cancer it can detect :

  • Breast cancer
  • Anal cancer
  • Cervical cancer
  • Kidney cancer
  • Esophageal cancer
  • Leukemia
  • Liver cancer
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Oral cancer
  • Mesothelioma
  • Head and neck
  • Plasma cell neoplasm
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • Stomach cancer
  • Uterine cancer

The test is considered as the most effective test as it can even detect some of the cancers that are extremely rare and highly lethal. For example, pancreatic cancer can never be deleted at an early stage and is normally detected when it is at stage 3 or stage 4 and has only a one-year survival rate. The blood test can detect cancer and that too at an early stage and which is its primary benefit. These cancers can be detected by MCED tests because of DNA that it sheds into your blood. Even though it is an extremely advanced form of testing it does not detect those cancers that do not shed DNA in the bloodstream, like brain cancer.

How accurate is the MCED test?

MCED test is considered as highly accurate compared to other tests to detect cancer because other screening tests have a 10 to 40 percent false positive rate, and the MCED test has a very low 5 percent false positive rate. At present, MCED tests are done along with other screenings. In the future, after collecting more data and research, it will be the only test that is recommended to detect any cancer and make cancer tests easy. Soon all early cancer detection will be based on a blood test.

What are the tests done to check for cancer at present?

At present, there are many screenings done to detect cancer:

  1. Mammographies are done for breast cancer.
  2. HOV tests and PAP tests are done to detect cervical cancer.
  3. Colonoscopies test is done for colorectal cancer.
  4. Low-dose CT scan is conducted to detect cancer in people more prone to lung cancer.
  5. Prostate-specific allergen tests are done to detect prostate cancer.

FAQs

  1. How many cancers can an MCED test detect?

It is an early cancer detection test that can detect more than 50 types of cancer.

  1. What does early detection mean?

Early detection is the early diagnosis of cancer, and that increases the caves for successful treatment.

  1. Are MCED tests FDA-approved?

MCED tests are not yet approved by the FDA.

 Conclusion

MCED test is recommended for those who are more prone to cancer due to family history and those above 50 years of age. This blood test can detect cancer and is used in addition to all other screenings recommended by health care providers. However, sadly it does not detect all cancers and cannot predict your chances of having cancer in the future, but it does detect many cancers, including the rarest ones. MCED test is different from existing biopsies that are done to detect many cancer types as they detect cancer at an early stage even when there are not many tumor cells yet. Detecting cancer at this stage is challenging early, but now it is possible thanks to MCED tests.
