RFT stands for Renal Function Test, also known as a kidney function test or kidney function panel. It is a routine blood test that helps assess how well your kidneys are working. Your kidneys act as natural filters, removing waste products and excess fluids from your blood. An RFT measures specific substances in your bloodstream, mainly creatinine and urea, to evaluate kidney function. Higher-than-normal levels may indicate that your kidneys are not filtering waste properly. Doctors usually recommend an RFT if you have symptoms of kidney problems, manage conditions such as diabetes, or as part of a routine health checkup.
