Mild left hydronephrosis means the urine-collecting part of your left kidney is slightly widened because urine is not draining as normally as it should. It may happen because of a partial blockage, such as a kidney stone, a urinary tract problem, or urine flowing backward toward the kidney. Mild hydronephrosis does not always cause serious problems, but the underlying cause is important. Your doctor may review the ultrasound along with urine tests and kidney function tests, and may recommend repeat imaging. If you develop fever, severe side or back pain, vomiting, painful urination, or blood in your urine, you should get proper medical care.
