How to stop a child's constant coughing?

If your child is coughing frequently, the best way to help depends on the underlying cause. For children over 1 year of age, a small amount of honey may help soothe the throat and reduce coughing, especially at night. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids, and consider using a cool-mist humidifier if the air is dry. Avoid giving honey to babies under 1 year of age, and do not give cough or cold medicines to young children unless recommended by a doctor.
