Your blood sugar is a very important health parameter and an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) helps doctors analyze how well your body handles the sugar in your body. A more concise version of the OGTT is used to check for diabetes in pregnant women, known as gestational diabetes. According to some studies, the occurrence of gestational diabetes in India varies from 3.8% to 41% in different parts of the country. A 75-gram glucose tolerance test during pregnancy is suggested as a universal screening method. It is a single-step OGTT test. In this article, we are going to discuss in detail the relevance of the OGTT test during pregnancy, its approximate cost, and the normal reference values.
