The uric acid test measures the levels of uric acid in the blood or urine to measure any possible complications related to kidney function.
When to get the test?
Your doctor might prescribe a uric acid test if you are showing symptoms of gout, pain and swelling in the joints, or redness on the skin. It should be done on an empty stomach.
What is the normal range?
The normal range of uric acid in the blood and urine is between 3.5 to 7.2 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL).
