The most common thyroid medication for hypothyroidism is levothyroxine, which restores and regulates the thyroxine levels in the blood of hypothyroidism patients.
Similarly, for hyperthyroidism patients, the common medications include radioactive iodine (which is taken orally) and anti-thyroid medications to regulate the excess production of thyroid hormones in the blood.
An adequate dosage of each of these medications, and taking the medicines on time every day alleviates the symptoms over time.
