The primary cause of thyroid disorder in teenagers is due to Hashimoto’s autoimmune thyroiditis, which affects around 1-2% of the world’s teenagers. The condition generally runs in the family and is a direct consequence of genetic predisposition.
Besides that, thyroid problems in teenagers can also be a consequence of Graves’ disease, which is another common autoimmune disorder that affects several people globally. This typically leads to hyperthyroidism in teenagers.
