Thyroid disorders, at this point, have no permanent cure. However, the optimal dosage of the synthetic thyroid hormone, healthy lifestyle switches, and a proper diet can better manage the symptoms in the long run.
Some children are born with thyroid disorders, often known as congenital hypothyroidism. The treatment in that case starts immediately after the diagnosis.
In the case of teenagers, the treatment is consistent with the synthetic thyroid hormone replacement to regulate the adequate levels of the thyroid hormone as needed by the body. Depending on the test reports of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels, the dosage of the medication is adjusted.
