I am an alcoholic aged 50, my SGPT is 54 & SGOT is 60, and HbA1c is 8.5, should I consider myself as an alcoholic fatty liver patient ? Else a long sober will make any difference or consult a doctor ? Please advice me. Thank you.

Redcliffe LabsModerator1 year, 8 months agoElevated SGPT (Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase) and SGOT (Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase) levels can indicate liver damage or inflammation, which may be associated with various conditions, including fatty liver disease. An HbA1c level of 8.5 indicates poor long-term blood sugar control and suggests diabetes.
Given your history of alcohol consumption and the elevated liver enzymes, there could be a possibility of alcoholic fatty liver disease. Alcohol consumption can contribute to liver damage, especially in individuals who consume alcohol excessively and for an extended period.
Please consult a healthcare professional for personalized guidance based on your specific health situation. Your doctor can provide you with the best advice and help you create a plan to improve your liver health and overall well-being.
