Gestational diabetes is the type of diabetes that develops in women during their pregnancy. Most women suffering from GD have a heightened risk of developing type-2 diabetes post-partum.
The primary cause of gestational diabetes is due to improper production of insulin in the body during pregnancy. It is a severe pregnancy complication that needs to be closely monitored to prevent any potential risks to the mother and the baby down the road.
The symptoms of gestational diabetes are often overlooked. But, you need to keep an eye out for the symptoms like:
- Fatigue
- Excessive thirst
- Frequent urination
- Nausea
- Blurry vision
- Sugar in the urine, etc.
Consult your OBGYN if you are experiencing these symptoms out of the blue and only during your pregnancy.
