The two biggest dietary restrictions with diabetes are to avoid eating processed food and foods with a high glycemic index. You want to avoid any kind of food that will cause an unnecessary spike in blood sugar levels.
Some of the worst food choices to avoid with diabetes are:
- Processed foods
- Deep fried foods
- Excess soy-based products
- Meats with high-fat content
- Fried meats
- Animal fat
- Carbonated or sweetened drinks
- Store-bought fruit juices
- Refined grains products
- Fruit-flavored yogurt, and so on.
It’s okay to have a cheat meal here and there but prioritize eating healthy over eating junk, especially with diabetes.
