What is the test for?
The SGPT / ALT test is a liver function test that determines the levels of a crucial liver enzyme, serum glutamic-pyruvic transaminase or SGPT.
When to get the test?
The test is either done as part of an annual health screening or when an individual is showing signs of liver damage, including jaundice, dark urine, nausea, vomiting, etc.
What is the normal range?
The normal range of SGPT is 0-35 Units per liter.
